B u r e a u Buitenland Van de American Council of Learned Societies is de navolgende mededeling ontvangen: The Councü is initiating, with the academie year 1962-'63, a Fellowship Program tenable in the United States of America. These Fellowships are reserved for European scholars interested in research and study on some aspect of the civilization of the United States, past or present, such as American history, literature, government, art history, geography economic history, etc. The Fellowship will normally be granted for a minimum of one academic year. Emoluments wül include round-trip transportation, health insurance, and provision for all living expenses for the Fellows and their dependents, as well as payment of research or study fees, purchase of research materials, and travel expenses within the United States. The Fellowships are intended for those university graduates who are at present lecturing at a European university, or are preparing themselves for a university teaching career, where special attention in their teaching to some aspects of the civilization of the United States of America might appropriately be included. Candidates should be in good health, should have a good command of the English language, and preferably should be not over forty years of age. Possible candidates may secure application forms from the American Council of Learned Societies, American Studies Program, 345 East 46th Street, New York 17, New York. Requests for application forms should be accompanied by the candidate's name, age and address, present position and present or most recent university affilation, a list of the university degrees and diplomas held, a very brief description of the candidate's proposed research or study, and the names and addresses of three references who are acquainted with the applicant's scholarly qualifications.
