Master's Degrees at the Katholieke Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) Legal Theory This programme offers a critical and interdisciplinary approach to the different branches of legal theory, with special emphasis on the gradual harmonisation of European legal systems. Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences 'Quantitative Methods' consists of five modules in which participants are offered an indepth survey of advanced statistical techniques of analysis which are used in quantitative social-science research. CentER is both an international research institute and an educational institution, where Dutch and foreign scholars cooperate in research and graduate education. Following the introduction of the Graduate Program j n Economics and Econometrics in September 1992 a Graduate Program in Management commenced in September 1993.

The CentER for Economic Research was awarded the first N W O 'STIMULANS' start-up subsidy for a Graduate School in economics. It is currently the only such graduate school in The Netherlands with official recognition by the Royal Academy (the 'KNAW'). CentER is both an international research institute and an educational institution, where Dutch and foreign scholars cooperate in research and graduate education. Research is concentrated in macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics. The Graduate Program in Economics and Econometrics began in August 1992.

The Graduate Program in Management consists of a one year Master's course as well as a four year Ph.D. program.

The Graduate Program consists of a one year Master's course as well as a four year Ph.D. program.

The Master's program encompasses the final (i.e. fourth) year of the first tier of the academic education system in the Netherlands. Courses in business administration (embracing corporate finance, marketing, organization, and accounting) and management science (embracing operations research, game theory, applied computer science, and information management) are taught in the Master's program and they provide a solid basis for future research in these areas. The Master's courses enable the student to meet the core requirements of the Ph.D. program in management. Students with an educational background equivalent to three years of undergraduate study in (business) economics, econometrics, information science or related disciplines are invited to apply to the Master's program. Students who successfully complete the Master's program as part of the first tier receive a Dutch 'Drs.' degree, together with certification of their completion of the CentER Master's program. The Master's program can also be followed by students from outside the Dutch university system. The deadline for application to the Master's program is June 1st, 1995. Courses begin in September 1995 and a 'refresher' course in mathematics will be offered in August 1995.

The Ph.D. (AIO) program takes four years. Students are trained in advanced topics in business administration and management science. Ph.D. students participate in the courses offered by various national networks. Furthermore, students attend the regular seminars offered by CentER and they may also participate in the courses that are given by foreign visitors to CentER. The Graduate School offers high quality courses, excellent research and computing facilities, and has funds for travel. CentER participates in an international Ph.D. exchange program, the European Network for Training in Economic Research (ENTER). Salary: Ph.D. students are employed by the University as a Research Trainee (AIO). The gross salary ranges from Dfl. 2078,-/month in the first year of the Ph.D. study, to Dfl. 3710,-/month in the fourth year of the appointment.
