We're looking for excellent Ph.D. students

On September 1, 2001, Tilburg University launches a new Ph.D. program in Business, with separate programs

for Finance, Marketing, and Organization. Our doctoral program is tailored after the North American system, and

aims to be among the three most selective in Europe.

The program combines the best resources of the nr. 1 School of Economics and Business Administration in the

Netherlands. Our programs are developed to train highly motivated and highly qualified young candidates in

applying advanced theories and techniques to problems of companies. We aim to develop all the skills needed

to do research at the highest level, and to be placed after graduation at excellent Schools in Europe, North

America, and elsewhere.

The PhD program

Tilburg actively recruits the best and brightest candidates from Europe, including Eastern and Middle Europe,

and elsewhere. These candidates are offered a challenging and motivating research atmosphere in the fields of

our doctoral program: Finance, Marketing, and Organization. The first 1,5 years of each program is dominated

by course work, to develop a solid and rigorous conceptual and technical foundation. Classes are small and courses are highly interactive with intensive discussion of milestone publications and frontier research in the field.

They are taught by professors w h o often have leading roles in advancing and shaping their field, as evidenced

by publications in top journals.

After 1,5 years, research becomes the dominant activity. The research experience is intended to build a variety

of skills needed to do cutting-edge research. It also helps to build a research record, through publications in international journals, often in the form of co-authored work, jointly with experienced scholars. Ph.D. students actively participate in seminars, interact with visitors from North America and elsewhere, and enjoy excellent

research facilities.

We welcome applications from excellent students in Economics, Econometrics, and (other) Social Sciences with

a relevant specialization.
