Development of robotic device to meet medical challenges The Man-Machine Systems Group of the Fatuity of Design, Engineering and Production has an opening for a Ph D Researcher for a project that is part of a new hne of research within this Group The project is dedicated to the development of a robotic device that will move through the human intestines The robot will be used as an alternative to conventional flexible endoscopes and is intended for visual inspection of the intestinal wall and the performance of simple interventions As part of this competitive research group, you will work on developing a computer simulation model that simulates the mechanical and peristaltic

Objective of the research The objective is to identify and quantify the most important mechanical properties of the intestine wall The computer model simulating the behavior of the intestines will be developed and evaluated by means of experi-ments on biological tissues (m vitro) It will be used chiefly as a tool to test new biologically inspired locomotion mechanisms A secondary aim of the model is to support the development of training simulators with haptic interfaces
