Top Program in Business We're looking for excellent PhD students

^

On September i , 2ooi, Tilburg University launched a new PhD program in Business, v*/hich now includes separate programs for Finance, Marketing, Organization, and Operations Research. Our doctoral program is tailored after the North American system, and aims to be among the three most selective in Europe. In fact, the recent influential VSNU evaluation awarded each of the four research groups supporting the programs the highest score on research quality (5, or 'world class'). The PhD program has been approved by the international AACSB. Our programs are developed to train highly motivated and highly qualified young candidates in applying advanced theories and techniques to challenges facing companies in an internationalized 21st century. We aim to develop all the skills needed to do research at the highest level, and to be placed, after graduation, at excellent Schools in Europe, North America, and elsewhere. Note that excellent students (top 5­10%) can also apply for our CentER Research Masters Program.

The PhD program Tilburg actively recruits the best and brightest candidates from Europe, including Eastern and Central Europe, Asia, and elsewhere. These candidates are offered a challenging and motivating research atmosphere in the fields of our doctoral program: Finance, Marketing, Operations Research, and Organization. The first 1,5 years of each program is dominated by course work, to develop a solid and rigorous conceptual and technical foundation. Classes are small and courses are highly interactive with intensive discussion of milestone publications and frontier research in the field. They are taught by professors who have been selected because of their leading roles in advancing and shaping their field, as evidenced by publications in top journals. After 1,5 years, research becomes the dominant activity. The research experience is intended to build a variety o f skills needed to do cutting­edge research. It also helps to build a research record, through publications in international journals, often in the form of co­authored work, jointly with experienced scholars. PhD students actively participate in seminars, interact with visitors from North America and elsewhere, and enjoy excellent research facilities. We welcome applications from excellent students in Economics, Business, Econometrics, and (other) Social Sciences with a relevant specialization. Would you like to find out how good you really are?
