Love is what brought Efe Kerem Sozeri to the Netherlands His fiancee came here as part of an Erasmus exchange program. He visited her during her stay and was attracted by the surroundings and the educational system "The climate fooled me though," he says looking back. Efe is thankful for the scholarship he received to study at VU University. In terms of educational level, Efe fast got a bit frustrated. "Back in Turkey we worked from original theoretical works, which was quite demanding At the same time this approach also brought a certain intellectual depth with it. Here in Holland I get the impression that it's more about methods instead of a more m-depth quahtative approach derived from a certain problem." Having a background in political science, Efe also noticed a certain lack of critique of the state by the Dutch people. "Only students

La crisi Deze week zit ik overdag weer in de bibliotheek van de Universiteit van Lecce, waar ik bijna vier jaar gewoond heb. Nu kom ik er nog een paar keer per jaar, meestal om te werken. Als ik me later op de dag verveel, ga ik kijken wat er gebeurt als je er twee uitneemt. De kopieermachine schijnt het te doen, maar voor gebruik heb je een kopieerkaart nodig en de machine waar die kaarten uitkomen is kapot. Ergo, er kan niet worden gekopieerd Inmiddels ben ik er ook achter dat er in het gehele pand geen wc-papier te vinden is. Studenten nemen het mee van huis, zoals op de camping.
