43 a leading position in a number of Christian social institutions in the surroundings of Stockholm, and to these he took us on Spring excursions. We others discussed theoretical problems, but Dr Sebardt managed the practical problems connected with bringing us together, so that no organization seemed necessary — and Dr Sebardt was no lover of organization. When he died quite suddenly in 1936 the situation took on another aspect. Our medical missionaries wanted the security of an organization in the home-country, which might understand both the medical and the spiritual sides of the medical missions; and our Danish colleagues urged the desirability of a Swedish organization for the sake of co-operation, not least for the publication of the common periodical. In 1938, the year after the meeting on Hösbjörg, was founded The Circle of Christian Physicians and Medical Students in Sweden, which is open, as the name implies, both to physicians and students. There was no sharp transition from the informality of our previous intercourse to the organized association. Those who had held a leading position earlier now became committee members, and even after the formation of the association we often gathered in the homes of our colleagues. During the first 10 years I had the privilege of serving as chairman. The medical students have always been represented at our meeting, though not so strongly of recent years. There have also been activities organized especially for students of the medical faculty in our university towns. Such activities have also been started in Gothsnburg, where The Circle of Christian Physicians and Medical Students has had a special section since a medical college has been founded in this city. Many medical missionaries have been sent to the various mission fields from our circle in the course of the years, and they have given impulses to Christian activity. The Association of Christian Physicians and Medical Students has so far not had the character of a militant association. As private individuals we have, it is true, fought on different fronts, but then we have longed to meet round the camp fire, so to speak, after the struggles of the day. It does seem, however, that members of our circle may well have occasion to influence official authorities and opinion-forming organizations. § 1 in the statutes runs as follows: „The association called The Circle of Christian Physicians and Medical Students constitutes an association of physicians and students at the medical colleges in Sweden who are interested in Christian problems". Résumé: Une association suédoise de médecins et d'étudiants en médecine Chretiens fut fondée en 1938, plus de quarante ans après que s'était constituée une association danoise du même genre. Cependant, dès 1923, un groupe de médecins et d'étudiants en médecine suédois ayant un ideal Chretien, s'était réuni pour discuter des questions médicales et sociales, considérées du point de vue chrétien. Ces reunions se levaient Ie plus souvent chez l'un ou l'autre des médecins du groupe. Les personnalités qui étaient a la tête de ce mouvement s'inspiraient du mouvement danois. C'est dans l'année qui suivit la reunion nordique de Hösbjörg, en Norvège, et sous l'effet de la forte impression produite par cette reunion que fut constituée l'association suédoise.
