The Christian Medical Association in Greece forms a subdivision of the league of Intellectuals, founded m 1937 m Greece This league has made its object to fight the spirit of materialism, and to proclaim the harmony between Christianity and Science The league now numbers 1200 members, among whom are many professors m several faculties In 1938 the periodical ,,Aktines" was started at Athens and it has now a circulation of 40 000 copies In Athens and various other big towns regular meetings are held On Christmas day 1946 there was issued a manifesto signed by 240 prominent persons, m which it was argued that Christianity and Science are not at all irreconcilable The future of mankind depends principally on the attitude of modern man with regard to the spiritual values and these are based on thie Christian faith and Christian morality As a result of one thing and another there is a great interest m anth^-opoloey and the human person The association also strives to connect the spiritual value of man with medical science In this respect the help of Paul Tournier and his team (Bossey Conference) was gratefully accepted Two years ago, on the same foundation, the Institute for medical Psychology and Mental Hygiene was established, starting from the idea that a Christian too cannot do without psychological help m his psychical and religious difficulties The Association strives to attain its purpose by the formation of teams to influence modern society (medical men, lawyers and the nursing profession) In March 1951 appeared the first publication of this Institute Its title was „la Maladie et 1 ame" and many authors had contributed to this In the pursuit of this object the association is supported by two other great organisations viz — that of the nurses (400 members) and that of the welfare-workers (3000 members) The cooperation of these four groups strives to create a christian culture, which alone can save our discordant humanity Uebersicht Der Verein chnstlicher Aerzte in Griechenland bildet einen Teil des 1937 errichteten Bundes der Intellektuellen m Griechenland Letzterer stellte sich das Ziel, den Geist des Materialismus zu bestreiten und sich zu bekennen zu der Harmonie zwischen Christentum und Wissenschaft Dieser Bund zahlt letzt 1200 Mitglieder, unter ihnen zahlreiche Professoren m verschiedenen Fakultaten 1938 wurde die Zeitschrift „Aktmes" gegrundet (jetzige Auf lage 40 000 E x ) In Athen und mehreren anderen groszen Stadten fmden regelmaszig Zusammenkunfte statt Weihnachten 1946 wurde erne Kundgebung veroffentlicht, welche unterschrieben war von 240 heivorragenden Personlichkeiten, darin wurde auseinandergesetzt dass Christentum und Wissenschaft durchaus nicht unvereinigbar smd Die Zukunft der Menschheit hangt namentlich ab von der Haltung des modernen Menschen m Bezug auf die geistigen Werte Und diese fussen auf dem christlichen Glauben und der chr Moral Infolgedessen besteht em groszes Interesse fur die Anthropologie und die menschliche Personlichkeit Der Verein strebt danach die geistigen Werte des Menschen in der Medizin zu berucksichtigen In dieser Hmsicht wurde die Hilfe Paul Tourniers und seiner Mitarbeiter (Bossey Konferenzen) dankend angenommen Vor 2 Jahren wurde auf derselben Grundlage errichtet das Institut Medizinischer Psychologie und Mentaler Hygiene, welche von dem Gedanken ausgeht dass auch der Christ bei semen psychischen Problemen oft die Hilfe der Psychiatrie nicht entbehren kann Das Ziel des Verems versucht man namenthch zu erreichen durch die Bildung von ,,teams" um hier-
