Mais nous devons aussi, nous efforcer, avec ardeur de par notre vocation de remplir nos obligations envers notre prochain que nous les medecins voyons souvent places devant les affres de la mort. C'est en partant de ce point de vue que la médecine prend une forme nouvelle, recoit un autre jugement en tant que science aussi bien que dans l'exercise de sa vocation: la science sur le chemin infini de la recherche de la vérité, notre vocation de comprendre Fhumanité que nous devons servir avec amour, charité et compassion et comme membres d'un seul corps en Jésus Christ. Seulement nous ne pouvons pas nous servir de cette médecine par nous mêmes; si nous le pensons, nous faisons déja fausse route. Mais un seul but nous est préscrit: je ne veux pas penser l'avoir saisi mais je cours puisque moi aussi j'ai été saisi par Jésus Christ. C'est le joyau divin de 1 appel de Dieu. Ce joyau doit nous éclarer, nous guider dans notre médecine chrétienne. C'est ce que nous devons sans cesse essayer d'obtenir puisque nous avons regu le commandement de témoigner dans notre médecine l'amour infini de Dieu par la charité et l'amour de notre prochain. R. THE CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICISTS A N D PHYSICIANS IN THE NETHERLANDS The Christian Association of Physicists and Physicians in the Netherlands owes its existence to a spiritual revival which took place early in the 19th centuries and makes its influence felt to this very day. That our country has political parties, variegated according to the religious convictions and has known freedom of education for years and even in the social sphere has its Christian organisation, cannot be fully appreciated without understanding that renaissance of religious life the first signs of which were visible in the „Reveil" (revival) of 1820. This revival, however, was not of typically Dutch origin: it had its representatives in all the countries of Western Europe (in Switzerland: Vinet and Malan; in France: Monod; in Germany: Tholuck; in England: Irving). The representatives of various nations were in comparatively close contact and influenced each other. The Dutch revival had its own character, though it owed much to Switzerland; it is a movement not connected with any particular church. The pioneers, disgusted with the intellectual „virtue-religion" of the „Aufklarungs" Christians asked themselves: what avails all our reasoning and theological reflection if we do not feci that we arc lost and if we not experience personally redemption in Christ.
