INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF CHRISTIAN PHYSICIANS *) by ALASTAIR M. C O N N E L L , M.B., Ch.B. T h e first International Congress of Christian Physicians was held in Amsterdam from July 15 to 18 1963. Representatives from fifteen countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and America attended the congress, whose aim was to exchange views in the field of medicine in connection with ethics a n d religion and to promote personal contact among Christian doctors on the international level. In his opening paper Dr. Paul Tournier (Geneva) noted that recent events had shown t h e inadequacy of t h e Cartesian approach in t h e study of t h e whole man.
