estabhshed christian outlook (what is that?) in the first place. But it is of pre-eminent importance for the many students of evangelical and reformatorial homes, all over the world, who are studying in Departments of Arts and Science and who are constantly confronted with the belief that only that which can be observed scientifically is of relevance. Some time ago somebody put the question: why is Dr Berkouwer not a professor at Union Theological Seminary in New York or in Chicago Divinity School? Indeed, his point was well taken. Why do those Seminaries, which employ theologians of many different backgrounds, not have a strong Reformed professor? Because from those positions a strong and up-to-date Reformed voice could sound throughout the western world. Tens of thousands of students not only in the USA need such a voice so badly. It is to be hoped that in the near future Reformed people will burst out of their national cadres so as that many through their work will be drawn to Christ. Along with the works of Dooyeweerd and Berkouwer we should mention the work of Dr J. Lever and Dr R. Hooykaas. Dr Lever's work on Creation and Evolution is well known among us. It is to be hoped that further discussion of his work among theologians, philosophers and scientists may straighten out some differences of opinion and give rise to further research on the origin of man. Dr R. Hooykaas' studies on the relation between the inductive method in chemistry (and physics) and the Christian belief in the creation of the world, especially as that became evident in the Royal Society of London after the Reformation, is perhaps better known among British Christians (IVCF) than among the Dutch Reformed people. Until now, the work mentioned was done by people of the Free University. This is mainly due to the background of the author. Mention should certainly be made of the work of Dr J. M. de Jong and Dr C. J. Dippel on the relation between Belief in Creation, Nature and Science,io) which emerged as a result from an initiative of the synod of the Dutch Reformed Church in the Netherlands, and which is entirely independent of the Free University. A general remark and a few questions regarding the relation between the ecumenical awareness and responsibility of the two mentioned Reformed churches may be in place here. One may say that the above mentioned change in climate of the Free University evidences that the post-World War
