het ontwerp van zijn d a n k w o o r d o p papier van het Fifth Avenue Hotel, Madi­

son Square te New York. Op regel 7 en 11 staat de n a a m van prof. O p z o o m e r ,

met de tekst: 'moved in the Senate of the Utr. University, to present me with

this same honorary degree; but the theologians in the Senate, being strong anti

Calvinists, opposed the motie so passionately, that Prof. Opzoomer finaly

thought it wizist, and I think he was right, to withdraw it.'
