When gladness comes to me and joy

And sunbeams, bright and clear,

Are wiping away this grieveous smart.

Then 't is, while through all was my heart

With her.

When, bending knees, I pray to God,

't May evening be or morn,

I ask, if Fie this grace me give,

I ask, if I may always live

With her.

O Lord! Thy Word may be my hope;

Give, that in all my days

My life may praise the Name of Thee

And in Thy mercy let it be

With her.
