In my heart is a storeroom of secrets,

much too sweet and too precious to share,

'bout your mouth and your eyes and your lashes

and your wonderful, fair, silken hair.

If I would I could sing of bright flashes

of a golden, fascinating fire

sunlight strikes, when your dear head it kisses —

't is a game of which 't never can tire.

Of my heart's secret hoard you are mistress,

of those jewels beyond human price:

rows of pearls for your teeth, heartshaped ruby

for your mouth, twin sapphires for your eyes.

Still, I'm weeping wihile guarding my treasure,

and just long for a crowning delight —

far more precious 't would be by my measure:

in your sweet eyes a tender lovelight.
