50 Einflusz hat das auf seme ganze Praxis ' Augenblickhch sehen wir bei den Katholiken eme Erneuerung schon langst bestehender Vereine, diese hangen aber wenig zusammen Daneben gibt es Konferenzen wo Medizmer aller Religionen willkommen smd und wo besonders die sittlichen und sozialen Probleme der Medizm besprochen werden Auf Prof Seite gibt es die sogenannte A P P (Associations Professionelles Protestantes) welche m dem letztem Kriege gebildet und m denen verschiedene Beruf e vertreten smd, Mediziner, Juristen, Industrielle, u s w Sie erstreben ein gegenseitiges Emverstandnis und wollen ortlich Vereme grunden, in denen em bruderlicher Geist herscht Die „Association" orgamsierte emen evangelischen medizinisch sozialen Kongress zuerst 1938 m Paris und dann 1951 in Bordeaux Hier kommen Aerzte, Pflegermnen, und Sozialefursorgerinnen zusammen Das letzte Mal wurde behandelt unsere Verantwortlichkeit als Christen m der heitigen Welt Wie sehr Zusammengehen verschiedener Gruppen erwunscht sem mag, dies soil nicht zur Folge haben, dass wir unsere Augen verschliessen vor den bestehenden kirchlichen Unterschieden, wodurch man auf emen nichtssagenden Generalnenner hmuntergleitet Das Konigreich Gottes kommt blosz als Folge der Erschemimg Jesu Christi unter uns Die Gemeinschaft der Kirche, das heiszt von denen, die beim Abendmahl zusammen sind, ist anderer Natur als die Gemeinschaft welche uns mit Mitgliedern derselben Berufsklasse verbindet Nur wenn man dies klar sieht, kann man entweder national oder international erwarten, dass diese Arbeit Fruchte tragt

For a considerable time already there existed, both among Catholics and among Protestants, small groups of medical men who were looking for some way to combine their religious and professional life These groups produced no wider contact at first But of late years a big chance has taken place here, for which several reasons can be given 1 a heightened interest m the Churches for the Bible as the source of knowledge of God and His Law. 2 The education of young people in groups (Boy Scouts, Chrisian Students associations) 3 The Message of Tournier, who was the first to formulate the application of the demands of the Faith m Jesu Christ to the concrete life of the physician, and the influence of this on his entire praxis At present we notice among Catholics a renewal of existing associations, but on the whole they are hardly connected mutually By the side of these associations there are retreat camps, where medical students of all persuasions are welcome, and which are specially dedicated to the moral and social problems of medical science Among Protestants there are the so-called „Associations Professionnelles Protestantes' started since the beginning of the last war, m which various professions (e g medical, legal and industrial) are represented These are striving towards a better mutual understanding and the foundation of local branches m the same spirit of fraternisation By the side of this, the association organises, among others, regular Congresses, viz „the Medical Social Protestant Congress" of which the first was held m Paris 1938, and the third at Bordeaux in 1951 Here doctors, nurses, welfare workers and others meet The last subject treated, to give an example, was, „our responsibility as Christian in the world of to-day" Although cooperation of the various groups is to be desired, we must warn against not acknowledging or glossing over existing religious differences, and a kind of pragmatism caused thereby
